In short, 65% of break-ins start with defeating front doors’ security. Therefore, heavily securing your home would be a good decision to make. Besides setting home’/ room decor security alarm system to call the police when burglaries happen, consider layering your door and reinforcing it to prevent thefts from occurring in the first place. However, steel reinforced doors, or wood veneered ones (wood table), or smart doors, are very costly. “Who can or want to spend that much on a door?” you may ask. Fortunately, there are less expensive ways to have security doors that we will be listing below in the blog.

In the face of the above-mentioned facts, homeowners should understand no house is immune to break-ins and should ensure proper security measures. Knowing that you realize the importance of door security for your house, don’t wait when it’s too late to protect your house from intruders. A homeowner can easily complete all of the enhancements that we will discuss. They do not require removal of the door in order to be implemented. Here’s how to reinforce a door and everything you need in your modern living room or modern kitchen design for home safety and security.

    1. Install a door reinforcement kit

You can reinforce your existing front door and frame, by strengthening the weak points of your door and frame, preventing kick INS from physical force.

    2. Invest in a Grade 1 Deadbolt

Deadbolts come in 3 grades, grades 1, 2 & 3, and grade 1 is the one you want. This grade can take the most abuse and the bolt is longer. It is also harder to pick, more difficult to be “bumped” and take longer to drill through, while being very easy to install.

    3. Install a blind deadbolt

It is actually a one-sided deadbolt, only visible from the interior side of the door. It can be therefore only locked and unlocked from the inside. It cannot be picked from the outside as no keyway is visible to the burglar.

    4. Add a metal frame

Most door frames are made of wood and if you’ve seen pictures of kicked in doors, the frame is usually the weakest part. A metal frame will help to prevent such incident. It can also be painted to match the door color which will make it invisible to the burglar.

    5. Reinforce door material

Now that you have reinforced the frame and deadbolt, it’s time to strengthen your door itself. The door wrap is fitted behind the door to wrap the door with either steel or an aluminum plate. You should mount a door wrap so that your door doesn’t split in case of a break-in attempt. It is designed to distribute the force of burglary attempt over a large surface area, which means the burglars need more force to cause damage.

    6. Get a Front Door Without Glass

Door with glass windows are good-looking but are not safe at all! Glass is easily broken, and it is much easier to get in if you have a deadbolt or lock that can be unlocked with a flip of the thumb turn.

    7. Stop Old Keys from Opening the Door

If you’ve bought a home or have lived in your home for a very long time, rekeying should be considered. Back in the old days, mothers would give the neighbor that she trusted a key to the home just in case she ever lost hers. Well, that was probably fine back in the old days, but now it’s not just the trusted neighbor you have to worry about when it comes to someone using that key to enter your home. It’s the neighbors’ teenage kids or their kid’s friends that pose the most risk.
