However, this prime location make tourists overlook it in favor of its bigger neighbors. Don’t be mistaken though. It has  the best  family vacation spots.  From personal experience, all tourists attractions near me were full of beauty, #culture and fun things to do.     The center of the city of Luxembourg is one of UNESCO world heritage. That’s not to say that you should spend all your time in the city center. If you do so, you will miss the delightful towns and villages and much of the scenic countryside can be accessed by train.

    Wander around the Old Quarter


    It is one of the perfect places to start a trip in this delightful country. As the city center, it is also a UNESCO world heritage site. You will find tree lined cobbed streets and lush parks and gardens. Those were once an ancient fortification destroyed in 1883. As you walk around, do not forget to check iconic bridges and winding alleyways.

     

    Notre Dame Cathedral


    It is a cathedral built in the 17th century by the Jesuit priests. The North Gate has a baroque style and is covered with glass stained from the 19th and 20th centuries.

    The same cathedral is full of traditional structures as well as modern pieces of sculpture. The famous statue of the Madonna and jesus in miniature form sits over the altar. It is also famous for its crypt which contains graves of members of the Luxembourg royal family and which is guarded by two lion statues.

    The National Museum of History and Art

    You might think that Luxembourg cannot have enough material for a museum? Well think again. Luxembourg is famous for its engaging museum.

    The National Museum of History and Art is located in the Fish Market part of the old town center.

    In this museum you can find tools, coins, weapons, historical documents and photographs.

    Most of the art work there are from the Gallo- roman era. They are inspired by the story of social and religious life. If you like modern art won’t be disappointed and it is filled with the works of a range of artists from the 20th century.

    Place Guillaume

    It is a spacious open area that used to be the location of a Franciscan convent.

    It is a car free area. It is centered by a statues of William II, the king of Holland and the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, on a horseback.  

    The area is famous for its Town Hall, and other landmarks to check out nearby include the Spanish Turret and a former cavalry barracks.

    The Walls of the Corniche


    the Walls of the Corniche look over the city down onto a valley. The ate of the grund is located there too. It was built in 1632. A range of houses reside there along with St Michael’s #church and the Abbey of #Neumunster which has the black virgin from the 14th century.


    Palais Grand- ducal

    It is the official residence of the Grand Duke and royal family of Luxembourg. It has one of the most beautiful architecture in Luxembourg City. I was huilt in the 16th century. The style has romantic touches and medieval and gothic designs.

    Echternach

    Echternach is located on the side of River Sûre which   also has a border with Germany.

    The town is famous for its festivals such as an international music festival that happens from May to June as well as a dancing procession that has been held here for centuries on Whit Tuesday.

    The town is famous for its old fashioned houses, winding streets, and medieval architecture.

    Berdorf


    Berdorf is an amazing spot for family #vacations in Luxembourg and sits on windblown table lands that back onto valleys containing the Black Ernz, the Sûre, and the Aesbach rivers.

    These valleys have trails that let you take in the majesty of the landscape of Luxembourg . The biodiversity is great there with more than 3000 type of tress.

    Echternach Benedictine Abbey

    If you visit Echternach,  you must definitely visit the Benedictine Abbey which dates from the seventh century and has an adjoining museum.

    It is made up of four buildings and a central courtyard and the basilica here has a huge amount of religious significance throughout Luxembourg mainly because it contains the sarcophagus of St. Wilibrord..

    Parc merveilleux

    The park is also an amusement center and you will find games, arcades, playgrounds, and even a train.
